TO USE OR NOT TO USE?
August 16th, 2007 by
It’s normal to hear …
- rantings from your parents when your bills get too high?
- “I’ll confiscate your phone for 3 months to give you a lesson.”
- “I’m not gonna pay for your bill this month!”
Sometimes you may feel nervous whenever you know you’ve overused your sms-es and when the bill is nearing right? And the feeling of intensity whenever you know your parents are going to read the bill soon. I understand how it feels because my bill last month was like $124 with a total of 2309 messages! There’s always a solution to each problem. So fret not now.
I’m going to introduce you the budget way to SMS your dearest ones.
FREE SMS
Let’s start off with Singtel Free SMS.
On clicking that link given above, simply just start off by signing up for an account for free.

That is when you can start typing and send your smses to your friend.
You can send up to a MAXIMUM of 3 people at a single time. (3 pop-up windows)
Remember!
Do not close the SINGTEL main page or else everything will be disconnected.

You are only given 20SMS per day for each number.
Blank smses will not be sent out, instead a red coloured prompt will appear.

If the conversation is not active for 20 minutes, the system will disconnect you with the designated user. It’s work the same way if you close the session of the connection.
From then on, both parties will not be able to send messages to each other until a new session is started

That’s about it for SingTel users.
What’s up next? Starhub Free SMS!
Thank God if your friend is a Starhub user.First of all, you do not need to sign up for an account.
It’s very user friendly. Just type in your friend’s STARHUB number and your own nickname and you can start typing with a given 160 spaces.

You can start to sms your friends with this. He/She can reply you through the given number too. How sweet?

It’s pretty easy to communicate without any limitations. Yes, no limitations to the number of smses sent per day. Whoopee!
But wait!

If you happened to type 3 sms-es at one go, you will not be able to send another message unless there’s a reply from the receiving party. But you can always use a “cheat” method. After sending 3 messages at a go, you can always close that session and start a new one. That’s one way OR you can ask your friend to reply like this.

If there is no activity within 15minutes, the session will be closed automatically with a pop-up message.

By the way, you can always open a new window and start the second friend or third friend at the same time.
Now we will talk about M1 sms. Note this! I didn’t put in the word FREE this time round.

The person that you want to send to have to pay for it.
This mean no one will really subscribe to this and therefore, you can’t use it at all.
When the word money is involved in it, I shan’t elaborate more to it.
So now, being a typical Singaporean, what’s your choice?
I hope this will make your bill a more ‘presentable’ in future.
Let your parents be proud of you
Cheers!
