Goodbye
April 30th, 2008 by
Dear Readers,
Friends for all over the net. Firstly let me just thank all of you for supporting Bondevia. As you all know we’ve come a long way from the little blogspot blog to the Entertainment blog you see today. As much as I would love to continue this quest to entertain all of you, I deeply regret to inform you that I do not possess such capabilities anymore.
Bondevia, I’ve realised, is a website that is very hungry for content. And I am afraid that doing what I’m doing now (serving the nation) I am unable to feed the blog’s extreme hunger. I know I’ve got a very reliable crew to help with the website about a year ago, and yes they did a wonderful job in maintaining the website for me. But all boys will have to serve the nation one day and all three of them will be enlisting this year.
Now I am left without a choice, Bondevia has to shut down. And with that I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the supporters of Bondevia, thank you for keeping this website alive. I apologise for not being able to entertain you further. Take care and rest assure that one day, Bondevia will make a come back. Just wait and see.
Meanwhile my email address is still active. If you need to contact me, do so at
Yours sincerely,
Jonathan Lai

Bangkok!
April 4th, 2008 by
Last week, I went on a trip to Bangkok with 8 of my other good friends and we had an absolute blast. For about 700SGD (cheap airfare and 4-star accomodation included), we shopped, ate and drank a lot. Below is a summary of our trip there:
Ah… Ok guys let’s go back there tomorrow. Set.

Founder’s Note
March 23rd, 2008 by

Hello hello,I know I have been missing for quite some time already. I can’t help it, I’m serving my Nation. But I try my best to come on to Bondevia as much as I can to check on the website’s status and all.
Anyways, how are you? To be frank with you the website has been receiving negative responses lately. I admit this is due to the lack of substance and content. Trust me we are working on that. But you know, as they say, wearing a helmet makes one stupid. And I wear my helmet almost every single day, except on weekends. I will need some help.
The generation 2 crew members will be enlisting to serve the Nation really soon. For now, since they are still around, we might as well ‘exploit’ their presense. Give us your suggestions on how you want to improve this website and we will cater to you!
Tell us how you feel about us, the impression we give you. And tell us how to improve. Who knows the best entry might just win an all expense paid trip around the World. Ok, did you buy that? No. Good. We’ll work out the rewards. But for now, put your thinking caps on and wait. Just wait:)
Bondevia is already two years in the making and I definitely want to see it develop further and farther in the future. But it cannot happen without you, the viewer.
Show us your support, and we shall provide.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Lai

KayKay’s Top 5 Most Anticipated Movies of 2008!
March 12th, 2008 by
After watching Meet The Spartans, I realise now more than ever that I should not watch a movie just for the sake of watching a movie. What a waste of money!
So anyway, after doing a little research (research, as in 10 minutes of googling and wiki-ing stuff), I’ve come up with the 5 most anticipated movies of 2008 that I most definitely will catch in the theatres… and maybe you should too!

aH - The New Unit to Measure Laughter
February 23rd, 2008 by
The next time you hear someone laughing, odds are you will most probably be using some strange empirical formula to calculate the laughter that he/she generates. And with that, the unit that you will use in the near future (along with your cm, m, V, W) is - aH.
Japanese professor Yoji Kimura believes laughter is a weapon that in healthy doses can end the world’s wars. The only problem is finding a way to measure it.
And so the expert on communications has invented a machine to chart out laughter — and a new unit of “aH” to calculate it.
“We have found that children laugh more freely, releasing 10 aH per second, which is about twice as much as an adult,” Kimura, a professor at Kansai University in the western city of Osaka, told AFP on Friday.
To measure laughter, he attaches sensors on the skin of a tested subject’s stomach, particularly the diaphragm, and detects muscle movements. The machine looks 3,000 times a second at electric elements normally produced in the body.
“I have a theory that humour detected in the brain gets directly discharged through the movement of diaphragm,” he said.
By checking the movement of the diaphragm and other parts of the body, it will be possible to see if a person is only pretending to laugh while also distinguishing different types of laughter such as derision and cynicism, Kimura said.
Kimura wants to make the measuring device as small as a mobile phone and possibly market it as a health and amusement gadget.
Someone will be getting this for Christmas. ![]()

Thomson Road Devil’s Bend Claims 2 Young Lives
January 31st, 2008 by
This is why, even after repeated persuasion from one of my close friends, I will never go near that stretch of road. On behalf of the crew, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased who also happen to be our fellow poly-mates. Rest in peace.
A LATE night spin for four buddies on what used to be a Grand Prix track here came to a tragic end when the car plunged more than one metre down a slope, and slammed sideways into trees, killing two of them in the back seat.
The two dead passengers - both students of Nanyang Polytechnic, were apparently not wearing seatbelts. The driver, a Republic Polytechnic student and front passenger, also from Nanyang Poly, survived with injuries.
The four youths, aged between 18 and 20, were trapped in the Mitsubishi Lancer, and rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force had to extricate them.
