Capella Italian Dining
May 1st, 2007 by
CHIJMES was a blast last night. Though it was only the three of us Slackaroo, Tweety and I, the whole experience was wonderful. Ok, enough of me talking I am sure you would wanna see some pictures. Wahahaha!

Venue: Capella Modern Italian
Address: 30 Victoria Street, #01-29A, Chijmes, Singapore 187996
Tel: 6334 9928
Email: capella@starworth.com.sg
Website: http://www.capella.sg/default.asp
It’s located at a little corner of the entire complex just next to the valet parking. So keep your eyes open ok, ’cause we spent too much time looking for the restaurant. Bah, I was so hungry I could just eat the nearest waitress.
Ok, so we found the place in the end. I’ll rate the ambience a pathetic 2.5 out of 5, mostly because of the fact that our table was infested with ants and spiders. I was horrified, literally. But the deco and the service there was commendable, except for the lady whom we called ‘ant hill woman‘. She was soooooo rude I tell you, snatching our plates from the table without even asking like as though they were running out of china. But the other staff there was all fine, presentable and very polite.

This is the Grilled sword fish belly on a bed of black olive tapenade accompanied by tomato salsa and a drizzle of balsamic syrup and lobster-infused oil. When I first popped a slice of the swordfish belly in my mouth, boy did I feel like I was in heaven. The herbs and the spices used in the sauce together with the dressings at the side, wooooooooo weee… I knew I was in for a treat that night and the experience will definitely be unforgettable.

The tomato soup was fabulous. I love the smooth texture of the liquid on the tongue, accompanied by the bread croutons. Mama-mia!! Haha. And the raspberry sorbet was so sweet, frozen to perfection.

Ok, this was my main course, Grilled fillet of meltique beef striploin complemented with mashed potato, roasted sweet pepper and fried cauliflower lavished with Chianti wine reduction. I had medium-rare for my beef striploin, oh man it was super juicy!!! And the mashed-potato was blended with herbs (I can’t figure out what herb was that though) but it was super delish.

And this is tweety’s dish, Lobster Capellin. Hers wasn’t part of the set though, I would elaborate about that later. But I felt that the pasta tasted a little like Wanton mee!! With an a little Italian flair of course.

Pan-seared Yorkshire pork rack with grilled apple and crabmeat salad, laced with red wine prune sauce. The pork was so good it made Slackaroo a happy man. Look at that face!! And that wide smile! Hahaha. I personally loved the herb salad served together with the pork. And the Grilled apples were so crispy!

Lavender-scented panna cotta smoothened with Valrhona chocolate and lavished with orange sauce. Tasted like normal pudding but the chocolate made the entire dessert so smooth. Everything that night was smooth. Really. Haha. I know slackaroo liked the orange sauce, me too, so did Tweety. We were all so full yet we had to finish the dessert.Ok, now let me show you what does the set dinner consist of:

Dinner was over in 2 hours. So we started cam-whoring at CHIJMES. The place didn’t remind me of Singapore. Somehow it felt alot like Paris. The first step into that lost paradise gave a feeling of nostalgia, makes me so reluctant to leave the place at the end of the day. Of course the company played a crucial role in the overall experience. And I am glad to have spend my time with my 11 years bestfriend and his girlfriend. Thanks guys!!
Overall Cost for the dinner: S$163.15

The Ritz Carlton: GreenHouse
April 14th, 2007 by
Hello people I am back. It will be a very disappointing post because I had too much great food, but too little pictures. Firstly let me introduce the place.

Address: 7 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039799
Price: SGD65.00+++ (Buffet)
Early reservation is recommended
The place has an á la carte menu and serves inter-continental buffet. For additional information you can click the link given above. You can check the timing for the buffets and the special promos that they have.
Let me explain why I didn’t take many pictures today, I can’t decorate my plate for nuts. The food was superb. Really it was, but I just don’t know how to dish it out in a manner that would look good in photos. That is why I only limited my pictures to food that was served to us or already prepared in servings.
I am the ultimate maniac when it comes to fresh sashimi. Yes, I am very particular about the freshness. And Greenhouse didn’t disappoint me a bit. My goodness, the sashimi was super fresh and I couldn’t stop myself from a second and third serving. Well the fish was easy to arrange on my plate, so I felt that it was presentable enough for a picture.

For those of you who love oysters. You really have to check this place out, ’cause my mum and dad are oyster fanatics and they we were pretty pleased with the quality they served at Greenhouse.
Ah yes, the drunken prawns were fantastic too. Served with a wine and tonic broth, the drunken prawns is something you shouldn’t miss when you visit the place. Let’s see some pictures.

Fruit juice was free flow, so were the smoothies. There are four kinds of smoothie mixtures over there. Couldn’t quite remember the names. We tried all four and yes they all tasted pretty good. My favourite was the strawberry, raspberry, blue berry and soya milk combo. Servings were small, but who cares! It’s FREE FLOW! The actual size of the cup is slightly bigger than the picture you see here. That’s my favourite flavour by the way. In a cute jug looking cup. I had a glass of fruit juice too, tomatoes and carrots. I know it’s not a really common flavour but it was nice. I like tomatoes and carrots.
The desserts ended the dinner on a high note. SO MANY CHOCOLATES TO CHOOSE FROM!! I didn’t manage to take pictures of all the desserts I ate today, but trust me I’m not saying that they’re superb just because they are from Ritz-Carlton ok! Let me digress a little. I’ve been to famous places and tasted really horrible food. One example if a hotel I used to work in. They won numerous awards and have recently upgraded themselves to a 5-star luxurious hotel but the buffet selection there was pathetic and the quality of food was so ‘uh’. Ritz-Carlton is like the epitome of buffet dining.

The green thing you see at the center of the plate of choclates is actually white chocolate with green tea filling and coated with a layer of green tea powder. I loved it, the majority of us did. The rest of the chocolate were all tasty too except the white one with orange patterns. I didn’t really like that one because it contains nuts inside. Ah, heavenly. I need to start exercising:)
Ok, besides the food I would like to compliment another thing, the service. The staff provided top notched service that totally elevated the entire dining experience. They took the liberty to inform you about the type of food they are serving how they were prepared and cook. And they do do help you to take some of the dishes too. You know it’s so different from other buffet restaurants where they just leave you there and pretend not to see you when you call for them unless it’s for the bill. Ritz-Carlton staffs are really reputable.
Total cost for the night $487. Thanks to dad and Happy Birthday Sis:) Ok, excuse me while I continue my attempts to touch my toes.

Yes, really delicious food. I just kept eating and eating. We ate more though, just that I didn’t take pictures of all of them. Agedashi tofu was beautifully fried I must say, it’s like eating hot snow? haha. All the HAMACHI!! I really love HAMACHI!!

I know, I know, how can soup be served in a teapot right? Accept it! That is realyl seafood soup and it was really delicious. I wished they gave more though.

Yes, they really gave 2 lady’s finger only. We didn’t bother to order more. The second soup was also superb. I really ate like a pig.

Ramen!! Curry!! Ah!! I’ll let the pictures do all the talking.

Ministry Of Sound
April 6th, 2006 by
Yes! Finally the most anticipated entry is done! I spent quite some time editing and collating the pictures together. And Presto! Behold!
Ok, we went to Fish & Co. for dinner (the branch in Wheelocks Place). I got to say this but I nearly puke my New York Fish and Chips out after eating just 3/4 of it. The initial taste of the dish was quite delicious. But after some time the creamy sauce just turns your stomach upside down. Yuck, thinking about it now really makes me wanna puke. Other than that I think I really enjoyed the company that night. Who was present? I must give credit. Richard, Slackaroo, Clara, Jie Mei, Jen Wei, Boon Yong (Ghostly Talisman) and of course the one and only BONDEVIA.
So after dinner we headed to Gelare for dessert before moving on to The Ministry Of Sound to collect our The Bands. Haha, It’s not really a big thing anyway. We thought it would be a flop that night because at 11pm only 1/2 of the club was filled. The real crowd only came in at 12 plus. All the Singapore Sevens participants. The place was infested I tell you.

I bet you’re wondering why I called that guy psycho. Here is a list of reasons:
- He came to club alone
- He stood at the middle podium (Main arena) alone for quite some time
- He would stop an stare at you like you owe him money
- He would stop and stare at you again like you owe him more money
- He starts dancing again
- He would stop and stare at you AGAIN like he wants you to pay him back money that you didn’t even owe him
- He has the word “PSYCHO” written all over his face
Dammit.
