Ashley Tisdale or Vanessa Hudgens?

So… Ashley Tisdale or Vanessa Hudgens? To be honest with ya, I have not watched High School Musical part deux but I have watched the first one and I must say… there was way too much happiness in that show. I know, I’m sad by nature. :(

With that being said, I would personally endorse Ashley Tisdale to be the breakout star of 2008. She’s got the looks, style, acting chops (probably needs a little bit more work) and vocals (room for improvement) to strike it really big for the year ahead. That, or maybe I’m just hypnotised by her insanely hot MTV for ‘He Said, She Said’.

As for Vanessa well… I gotta feel for her. 2007 was not that good of a year for herself mostly because of her nude pictures which were, and I quote her publicist, “taken privately and ‘unfortunate’ that they were released on the Internet.”. You kinda feel that with the momentum she had with HSM, the photos really did pull the chair away from underneath her. And guess who is the biggest winner in that whole hullabaloo? Zac Efron. You go, bro!!

So there, I said it. I’m an Ashley Tisdale groupie. Please don’t make me regret my decision, Ash. Make another supremely hot video and you’ll have me by the ankles or knees or some other joints. Vanessa, keep your chin up girl and hang in there. Unless of course you make an MTV that’s a gazillion times hotter than Ashley’s then…

… no choice.

I’ve come to a realization that all of Britney’s songs released so far are pretty catchy. It’s just sad to see one of my favourite pop princess’s career go down the drain like that. Somebody please hit her (me) baby one more time. Just to wake her up. Oops I did it again! I’m saying the same old lame Britney jokes. But I can’t help it, I was born to make you happy. Ok, I better shut up before somebody kills me. Sometimes I run, sometimes I hide.

PS: Did you know that Britney was late 12 hours for this video shoot? Despite her punctuality issues, the director of the new video Wayne Isham had to say this.

“On set,” says Isham of Spears, “she was very professional, excited to work and beautiful as always. I was impressed with her focus as she choreographed the dance herself. Her endurance was remarkable, as we had a long day.”

Asian Idol

Hady Mirza I was so surprised to hear Ata announced Hady Mirza’s name as the first Asian Idol (just like Melvin). Frankly I think Hady owes his achievement to his fans in Singapore and also to his looks. Let’s face it, did you think he had the best vocals in the show? No. BUT whatever it is, he did Singapore proud so I shall not rant further. Congratulations!

Apart from Hady’s victory, there are other things about this little Asian Idol competition that really puzzles me. One thing is for sure, the planning and execution of this regional competition sucks to the core. You really have to excuse my language here but who the hell organized this competition? There was too much publicity for Mike (Indonesian Idol) with him performing so many times tonight and so much emphasis of his name during the entire show. Yes, I understand the fact that Asian Idol is held in Jakarta, but that’s not a good enough excuse.

Hady and Jaclyn sang the song ‘Freedom’ originally sang by George Michael together and boy do you have to hear what Malaysian host Kui Jien had to say after their performance, “Singapore and Malaysia in perfect harmony. Something you don’t get to see very often.” Somehow I cannot deny the amount of truth behind his statement. It’s just that something as sensitive as this shouldn’t be said on a show that is being broad casted to so many countries around the region. Ah, Just ignore me. *Pedra Branca* (more…)

Old Lindsay? New Lindsay? Or Lohan?

We don’t need to tell you drinking and driving is dumb, especially when you have Lindsay Lohan as a shining — or in the case of the picture on the right, shiny — example of where such bad behavior can lead. But LiLo’s booking photos (the one on the left is from July; the one on the right is from Nov. 15) do more than convince us never to quaff a cocktail and get behind the wheel. They also show two different sides of her personality.

Dumbledore is gay

Yes Harry Potter fanatics, venerable headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore is gay.

J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall. After reading briefly from the final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” she took questions from audience members.

She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds “true love.”

“Dumbledore is gay,” the author responded to gasps and applause.

She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. “Falling in love can blind us to an extent,” Rowling said of Dumbledore’s feelings, adding that Dumbledore was “horribly, terribly let down.”

Dumbledore’s love, she observed, was his “great tragedy.”

“Oh, my god,” Rowling concluded with a laugh, “the fan fiction.”

The marriage to Kevin Federline, the child, the drugs and the party life. I’ll have to admit, although I personally do not like her songs, she sells albums. It’s as simple as that.
