Alain Mikli & Nooka feature

Always wanted to own a pair of trendy shades or glasses but not sure where to get them? Check out these two brands, Nooka & Alain Mikli.

Check out Nooka’s first collection of sunglasses by Nooka called “Mercury”, aptly named due to the one-piece blue lens with silver mirror finish which gives it a mercury like look. The Mercury sunglasses is both lightweight and durable because of the polymer injected frames.

*Retailing at SGD $180 at Playlab level 3, TANGS orchard. Available in 6 colours, white, black, green, blue, pink and yellow.

Although the brand Alain Mikli is a fairly young brand of 32 years. It has already achieved iconic status due to the bold use of shapes and colours and not to mention a long list of celebrities counted as his clients.

Recently on the 13th of July, “vintage” and some of the most iconic Alain Mikli eyewear were in Singapore for only 1 day for the first stop of the Asian Tour of the Alain Mikli vintage collection (above), exclusively at Seen@Dempsey.

If you are still not sure what or who Alain Mikli is, think Kanye West’s “Stronger” music video in which he wears the Shutter Shades. Or think Ugly Betty. Surprised? Alain Mikli was indeed responsible for the creation of the Shutter Shades and the trendy eyewear in which Betty Suarez wore in Ugly Betty (like me, you must now be thinking Betty Suarez isnt that much of a walking fashion disaster for wearing a pair of Alain Milki eyewear huh?).

Looking at some of the pieces above which i feel is very Gaga-esque and definately something she would wear, I wouldnt be surprised if Alain Mikli were to add Lady Gaga to his already very impressive list of clients which includes Philippe Starck a fellow designer himself whom also collaborated wif Alain Mikli with a range of eyewear.

Check out Seen@Dempsey at Block 26 Dempsey Road, #01-03 for a range of Alain Mikli eyewear. But bewarned, each pair of Alain Mikli does not come cheap.
