I’ve come to a realization that all of Britney’s songs released so far are pretty catchy. It’s just sad to see one of my favourite pop princess’s career go down the drain like that. Somebody please hit her (me) baby one more time. Just to wake her up. Oops I did it again! I’m saying the same old lame Britney jokes. But I can’t help it, I was born to make you happy. Ok, I better shut up before somebody kills me. Sometimes I run, sometimes I hide.

PS: Did you know that Britney was late 12 hours for this video shoot? Despite her punctuality issues, the director of the new video Wayne Isham had to say this.

“On set,” says Isham of Spears, “she was very professional, excited to work and beautiful as always. I was impressed with her focus as she choreographed the dance herself. Her endurance was remarkable, as we had a long day.”

Amazing huh. How a turtle, a creature with such a small brain is able to comprehend what humans say. Wait till you see my pet fish. He’s a great actor, a little stubborn though. There was this time I told him to play dead, and he over turned in the tank and just stayed there. Even until today. Cute little thing.

Asian Idol

I was so surprised to hear Ata announced Hady Mirza’s name as the first Asian Idol (just like Melvin). Frankly I think Hady owes his achievement to his fans in Singapore and also to his looks. Let’s face it, did you think he had the best vocals in the show? No. BUT whatever it is, he did Singapore proud so I shall not rant further. Congratulations!

Apart from Hady’s victory, there are other things about this little Asian Idol competition that really puzzles me. One thing is for sure, the planning and execution of this regional competition sucks to the core. You really have to excuse my language here but who the hell organized this competition? There was too much publicity for Mike (Indonesian Idol) with him performing so many times tonight and so much emphasis of his name during the entire show. Yes, I understand the fact that Asian Idol is held in Jakarta, but that’s not a good enough excuse.

Hady and Jaclyn sang the song ‘Freedom’ originally sang by George Michael together and boy do you have to hear what Malaysian host Kui Jien had to say after their performance, “Singapore and Malaysia in perfect harmony. Something you don’t get to see very often.” Somehow I cannot deny the amount of truth behind his statement. It’s just that something as sensitive as this shouldn’t be said on a show that is being broad casted to so many countries around the region. Ah, Just ignore me. *Pedra Branca* (more…)

Singapore’s Achievements, Asian Idol

After watching Asian Idol, I was very skeptical of the winner because Hady Mirza (Singaporean Idol Season 2 winner) didn’t expect to win the title. Not to mention, the viewers too.

I was rooting for Jaclyn Victor (Malaysian Idol Season 1 winner) because she was the powerhouse of the entire fleet there.

The results was the most unpredictable from all Idol franchise I’ve ever seen but nevertheless, being a Singaporean, I am proud that our country is able to tap into the regional music industry.

Oh wait. Singapore has been winning and being the top for most of the areas right now (e.g. sporting events, media, air carrier)

Don’t believe me? Let me freshen your memory.

Having one of the best Air Carrier (SIA)
Having one of the best transportation system (PIE, AYE, SLE, CTE) “So complex, all you see is wire meshes and barb wires from Google Earth”
Having one of the most expensive housing system (En-bloc ah!)
Being one of the least corrupted city
Having one of the best airport (Changi International Airport)
Having the best TV production company (Mediacorp) bagging numerous awards from Asian Television Awards.
Having the world’s most densest population in this piece of “Padi Field” (4.7 million and counting)
Having Hady Mirza to be 1st Asian Idol
Winning 43 GOLD medals out from the 24th SEA Games
Having the strongest economy in South East Asia. (We can afford to live in U.S. very soon!)
Having our homegrown Annabel Chong engaging in 251 sex acts with around 70 men over a ten hour period in January 1995 (Set a record dudes!)
And what’s next?

This would give you a very brief idea of what Thomson Plaza is like. Especially for people who haven’t been here before. It’s no longer the old Thomson Plaza where people only go there to eat and shop for groceries. Now it’s a Thomson Plaza where people go not only to eat and go groceries shopping, it’s also a Thomson Plaza where people chill and ogle at pretty girls My new happy place.
