Singlehood

March 21st, 2007 by Jonathan

Let’s discuss something that cannot be experienced by everybody, being Single.

It is a privilege, an entitlement to extreme freedom. The ability to do what you like and love (provided it’s nothing against the law) without having to report to anyone. No commitments to anyone, going out with whoever you please. Being single is not that bad actually, but these are just the advantages. (more…)

Senseless

March 21st, 2007 by Jonathan

Have you ever sat down and listen to a song so intently only to realise that your favourite song actually made no sense? Sometimes there are words with no meaning, sentences and phrase that don’t even link or just words used to fill the music to make it a song. (more…)

Interview with a Singapore Prostitute

March 20th, 2007 by Jonathan

Both are just as disgusting. If she’s $150 and her ’sister’ is $80, I really cannot imagine how the $40 chicken will look like. haha.

Uncle Bondevia

March 19th, 2007 by Jonathan

It’s been quite some times since I last received emails for the Uncle Bondevia column. WHERE ARE ALL THE EMAILS!!! Anyways, today’s email is basically about stress. Let’s see.

hi uncle bondevia, ive gt no idea y each time when my assessment is around e corner i feel so small and helpless..i dare to say im not a lazy person instead persistent.

i’m always workin v hard tryin my v best to score well which makes me fall sick during dis period..i never fail to feel yucky in e midst of assessment.

any idea y?

Enhpad (=

Well Enhpad,

I assume you are Daphne ’cause that what it says when I read your name backwards:) The only reason why I think you’re falling sick is because you’re putting too much pressure on yourself by having high expectations.

This will cause mental exhaustion which can in turn weaken your body’s immune system, allowing common germs and bacteria to infect you easily. Tada, probably explains why you’re falling sick so easily. Try to relax, don’t stress yourself out. The least you could do is lower your expectations and do your assignments accordingly. You don’t have to feel helpless cause help is always around the corner. I am sure your friends and family wouldn’t mind lending an extra hand so long as it is within their capabilities.

Relax and stay happy. Every body will experience stress sometime in their lives. I feel stressed too when I don’t have anything to blog about, or when I don’t have ANY EMAILS. Wahaha. That’s besides the point. What matters is that you take care of yourself, ’cause by falling sick you might pass it on to others around you too you know? Take care. Thanks for writing in.

Regards,

Bondevia

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Prom Night 2007

March 14th, 2007 by Jonathan

My deepest apologies for delaying this entry. It’s all thanks to Angela, who took like 2 weeks to send us the pictures. Okok, I’m not going to blame her for my mistakes,  I had my collection of pictures too, but it was just too little of myself and too many redundant videos! Wahaha. Shouldn’t have underestimate the event, I only brought a 512mb SD card. Pathetic aye.

Ok, to begin let’s start by introducing the place. Conrad Centennial. World Renown Business hotel, Conrad played a valuable role in the 2006 IMF meetings in Singapore by accommodating the Chief of the IMF in its premises. I still don’t understand why you can mention the name Conrad to some people and they would say, “Is is a good hotel anot? Never hear before leh.” Pardon my usage of Singlish, it’s pretty common in the sunny Island of Singapore. Anyways, we paid a total of S$75.00 to attend this ‘once-in-a-lifetime-pain-in-the-butt-with-horrible-food’ event and boy was it a waste of my money.

The food from such a famous hotel was Horrible (Except for the dessert which was some really neat chocolate cake with a thin piece of biscuit nicely concealed within the chocolate). Other than that, the only thing decent on the table was the bread served to us right at the beginning. Salmon tar tar looked like cat food, the Cream of Chicken soup looked like phlegm and the Chicken felt like stuffing sponge in your mouth. ‘Oh come on, I’m sure it’s not that bad?‘ you might say. Hell yea it was that bad!! Nonetheless, the entertainment was world class. It’s not surprising since they outsourced the entertainment company. So I’ll take it that I’m paying S$75.oo to have a good show, just to console myself a little.

Alright, enough of blabbering already I’m pretty sure you would rather see pictures than to hear me rant about the horrible food.

Here’s a video of the Bollywood dance skit. The MC was really professional.

And here are some pictures. Love my friends to bits.

Movie Review: 300

March 9th, 2007 by Jonathan

Official Poster

4 outta 5 Popcorns

The colour of the film made everything look like a painting. Every greek soldier in the movie is buffed to the core.

The movie (albeit is based on Historical Facts to a significant extend), is a mixture of Gladiator, Troy, Last Samurai, The Lord of the Rings and a tiny bit of Samurai Jack (Cartoon Network). I don’t want to be a spoiler so please go see it for yourselves, and if you’re under 18 (hee hee hee) wait for the DVD.

300 brings you back to 480BC, the battle of Thermopylae. Where 300 Spartan soldiers faced the 1 million strong Persian Empire at the hot gates (Thermopylae) and managed to hold them back for 3 days while the council at Sparta contemplated on whether to march more troops into battle. Historically, the reason why Sparta refused to march was because of festivals (You know how the Greeks are so engrossed with their Festivals that they stop wars just to allow their activities to commence), but in the movie it was because the Persian bastards decided to bribe a bunch of very ugly looking ‘holy’ men and an Oracle whos tits could point to the sky.

One inaccuracy that I want to point out is Emperor Xerxes. I am aware of how he portrays himself as a god (obviously the most delusional man of his time) but his costume (to be exact, he is wearing nothing but a pair of golden underwear) is nothing like Persian. Persians are known for their beards and tall foolishly stupid hats, and drapes of lenin hanging on their bulky frame. But Xerxes here is actually sexy despite having his eyebrows being severely plucked. And I know he was wearing Acuvue Define, ’cause his pupils were like HUGE!

The Persian Immortals looked like Aku from Samurai Jack, when in fact they should be wearing black ‘I am Stupid‘ pointy hats and holding on to useless rattan shields.

And then there’s this really Gollum look-a-like in the movie who stalked them all the way to Thermopylae and ended up betraying the Spartan soldiers because of he’s repression.

Like Gollum he was crawling around rocks and mountains looking for his precious (The opportunity to fight for Sparta), but I can’t deny that his looks kinda resembles Quasimodo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Right Right Right?!?!Anyways, if you are really into blood, gore and decapitated hot men and plus you’re over 18 years of age you should really catch this film. It gives a very twisted version of a very true story. Where 300 Spartans stood against an army that shakes the earth when they march, an army that fires arrows that will blot out the sun. 300 overly essentric blood thirsty Spartans that laughed and said, “then we shall fight in the shade, har har har har har“Oh yes! Pay attention to King Leonidas’s loyal Captain. He is the same guy who acted in Troy as Archilles’s Captain of the Myrmidons. I guess once you’re a captain, you’re forever a captain.
